Staffordshire bull terriers.
For The Love Of Dogs presenter Paul O’Grady has spoken out in defence of Staffordshire bull terriers.
O’Grady has been a supporter of finding Staffies and other unwanted dogs new homes through his involvement with Battersea Dogs And Cats Home, with the ITV show For The Love Of Dogs drawing attention to the plight of abandoned canines.
Staffies make up a high proportion of dogs in need of homes, partly due to their reputation as dangerous animals.
While legal, they have been linked to violent attacks in the past few years, but O’Grady says this is due to poor training by owners, not their natural temperament.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror, he said: ‘They are lovely dogs. You get a bad owner with any dog and they turn into a bad dog.
‘It’s not about the breed. You could turn a Chihuahua into an evil dog with a bad owner, so I’m mad for Staffies.’
He’s now become a patron of a Staffordshire bull terrier club in an effort to rehabilitate the reputation of the dogs.
‘It was nice to be made a patron of the Staffie club. It’s nice to turn Staffies’ reputation around,’ he said.

Dogs are not naturally nasty, it's all down to the owner

SS

Abject shit - clearly from a bloke who has no understanding of dogs

As it happens, labs bite more people than staffs, spin that....

Only because there are so many more of them, not down to their nature.

The scouse queen is correct, of the regular breeds. provided they are homed with understanding owners and of good stock they will be fine

Re: Staffordshire bull terriers.
Stafs are to be avoided at all costs unless you are a druggy or a moody then they fit right in.
There are so many breeds of dog which are far nicer than staffs.

Re: Staffordshire bull terriers.
I have had dogs for the past 40 years but really don't like 'attack' dogs that seem to be very fashionable. nothing to do with the dogs - all down to the chavvy owners. some people should really not be allowed to own animals.

Lots of dog theft going on at the moment related to dog fighting - using pets as a means to provide a means to provide fighting dogs an easy kill to give them the blood thirst. Disgusting as it seems there are some sick people out there.

SS- Even if you were right (which you're not), you're still haven't understood the point, which is staffs generally have a good temprement.

Re: Staffordshire bull terriers.
Dogs are stupid and smelly and can turn nasty at the drop of a hat. People who own dogs are usually idiots and attribute human qualities to these filthy animals. Don't get me started on dirty fuckers that let their dogs lick their faces after licking their own and other dogs testicles and sometimes indulging in coprophagia which is common among dogs.

utter rubbish- Staffs are soppy things, why do you think they're nicknammed "nanny dogs" ?They put up with being pulled around and sat on by kids, I've owned them all my life, not once has one nipped anyone.

Re: Staffordshire bull terriers.
Think he's worded it a bit wrong.

He's not saying that Staffies are "bad dogs", but that every once in a while some dogs are just born "bad".

I dunno enough about dogs to agree or disagree, but I think that's where he's coming from.

Yes that's true, but how does that contradict the view that bad owners also make bad dogs?

Re: Staffordshire bull terriers.
Oh I see - sometimes a rogue dog is born now

Slight change from all dogs of a certain breed are bad

Clueless
